Melendez Publishing LENDING A HAND
The above opening prayer states the very reason why we started this foundation - to help others find “the grace to work conscientiously”. “.... to work with gratitude and joy, considering it an honor to employ and develop, by means of labor, the gifts received from God, disregarding difficulties and weariness; to work, above all, with purity of intention and with detachment from self, ...” All of us should have the opportunities to receive “the gifts received from God”. But there are those that cannot, for whatever reason, find work - the gift of labor. For that reason this foundation uses a portion of the Melendez Publishing profits to help these people get back to work. These individuals are not lazy. They want to work - tried to find work - but just can’t seem to for whatever reason.

The Jabez Prayer And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested. 1 Chronicles 4:10 (NKJV)

None of us has gotten where we are solely by pulling ourselves up from our own bootstraps. We got here because somebody bent down and helped us. *Thurgood Marshall* Life's most urgent question is: What are you doing for others? *Martin Luther King* Look up and not down. Look forward and not back. Look out and not in, and lend a hand. *Edward Everett Hale*
Prayer for Fidelity to Work Glorious St. Joseph, model of all who are devoted to labor, obtain for me the grace to work conscientiously, putting the call of duty above my natural inclinations; to work with gratitude and joy, considering it an honor to employ and develop, by means of labor, the gifts received from God, disregarding difficulties and weariness; to work, above all, with purity of intention and with detachment from self, having always before my eyes death, and the account which I must render of time lost, of talents wasted, of good omitted, of vain complacency in success, so fatal to the work of God. All for Jesus, all for Mary, all after your example, patriarch Joseph. This will be my watchword in life and in death. Amen.
“For Whatever Reason” We have spoken with many recruiters regarding this dilemma. We have gotten many excuses as to why the recruiters have not hire them. Here are the top 10 in no particular order: 1. This person is too old. We have many younger applicants who can better handle the assignment. 2. This person has no baby sitter - they will surely have poor attendance because of it. 3. No transportation - how can they get to work? 4. No phone - We will never be able to contact them for an assignment. 5. Cannot work nights. 6. She’s a female - I need big strong men. 7. He’s too small. I need big strong men. 8. Cannot speak English. 9. She’s “Black”. My client prefers “Whites”. 10. Poor credit check.
Many of these individuals, because they could not find work, tried to start their own business. But because they are unemployed they cannot qualify for small business loans. These individuals have all been turned down by small business associations of one kind or another. Since 1989 we have been assisting individuals with this problem. Because they can't find work "for whatever reason", we initiated this program to help them start their own small business. We have contributed our own library of "How-To" books along with general office supplies, and in some cases, tools, to help get them started. We have also mentored and passed along free advice from our many years in the start-up business. We would like to thank each and everyone of you who has contributed money to this cause. However, we cannot rest on our accomplishments. For every under-privileged individual that we assist, there are still many more asking for our help. So please do not stop your kind giving. Your voluntary donation helps offset the cost of printing their manuals. It goes towards funding their general supplies, i.e, flyers, business cards, general tools, local advertising and so much more. Assisting these individuals also help relieve the burden on the tax payers by helping to keep another family off of public assistance. Your voluntary donation is greatly appreciated
As a formal employment agency owner myself, I can honestly tell you that these are some of the reasons why some people do not get the job that they are qualified to do. Of course this goes on behind close doors. Some of it is requested by the hiring client themselves, the rest is strictly the staffing "clerk" trying to get a big commission for, “that special person”. There are many more reasons, but these top 10 should give you the idea behind the phrase, “for whatever reason”. Notice that the word “lazy” was never brought up.
Back in 1999, with your help, my husband and I were able to start our very own business, “Walker’s Judgment Recovery Services”. Because of your assistance, today we own our own home, are able to put 3 kids through college, and like you, have started to give back to the community. Enclose, please find our check for $500. Our way of saying “Thank you, we couldn't have done it without you help”. Mr. & Mrs. Walker Chicago, Illinois
